"I live in Shoreham, it used to be a hub of community, we all knew each other, we looked out for each other and our houses on the street, there was community. It's all but disappeared now, as people come and go, there's fold on our street who have no one, never get the chance to talk to anyone. What can be done about this please?" - Carol . Shoreham


Martin:

The loneliness epidemic is tragic and on the rise, even more so in more isolated villages, we are looking to bring incredible initiatives into play like "The Repair Cafe", where anyone can come into the local library or community hall for coffee, a chat or bring an item to be fixed by local volunteers, this initiative is already in play in villages such as Upper Beeding and Henfield, and is a huge success,

As an observer of the changing face of community governance here in Sussex, I’m still not sure what the role of Mayor will entail. What responsibilities are involved - and how strong an influence will the Mayor have to effect real change.
