I have a shop in Hove, and we’re experiencing awful shoplifting issues. It’s become so bad, I think we might have to stop trading. What can you do to help with this?

It’s simple. Shoplifters need to feel that they’re likely to get caught. And the best way to make that happen is to have uniformed officers out of their cars and patrolling the streets. A police car passing by is no deterrent whatsoever. I spent nine years as a front-line police officer, so I know what works and what doesn’t. We need to reclaim our street from criminality and anti-social behaviour. Safe streets are a fundamental and non-negotiable, and I’ll make sure it happens.
